RT FL-8 MEETINGS

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS

Unless otherwise posted, will be held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at the VFW John E. Mealy Post 3282,  located at 5810 S Williamson Blvd. in Port Orange. Guest are welcome to attend. If you are requesting speaking time please notify in advance.

March

CANCELLED Tues March 24th - RT FL8 Ed Seminar: To be held from 9am -3:30 pm for the Air Force JROTC classes at Pine Ridge H/S. (926 Howland Blvd, Deltona, FL 32738). Members are encouraged to attend.

CANCELLED Tues March 24th - Funeral Escort:  Escort urns of 20 Veterans that have been sitting on the shelves of funeral homes. Leaving Volusia Memorial Gardens at 9:30 AM, escort to Mims "Cape Canaveral National Cemetery" Meet up in front of the Funeral Pavilion. 

CANCELLED Thurs March 26th -The Interment Service: of the 20 Veterans at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at 10:00AM.

CANCELLED March 27–29, 2020 - The Daytona Spring Turkey Rod Run: Car show/swap meet, event held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach. The show's admission ticket price is $15/day. Show hours are: Thurs. Fri. & Sat. from 8 am to 4 pm. Sun. 8am to 2 pm.


CANCELLED Sat March 28th - Veterans Council Of Volusia County Meeting: Beginning at 9:30AM at the DAV Chapter 84 Building at 605 Eighth Street in Holly Hill. Agenda, discuss the effects and cancellations that the corona virus situation is having on our member organizations and also Upcoming Events.

CANCELLED Tues Apr. 7th - General Membership Meeting: There will be no meetings until further notice.

CANCELLED Tues Apr. 21 - The Matthew L. Eskridge Award Presentation: The award will be presented to a Pine Ridge Air Force JROTC cadet at Pine Ridge H/S. (926 Howland Blvd, Deltona, FL 32738). Dinner at 1730 in the cafeteria, followed by the ceremony at 1830 in the auditorium.

CANCELLED Wed Apr. 22 - The Matthew L. Eskridge Memorial Scholarship Award: to be presented at the JROTC Awards program at Deltona H/S at 6pm.

Sat April 25th - Memorial Service: for Dan Ryan, A supporter of Rolling Thunder FL8 and the Wreaths Across America.  A close friend of Dick and Sherm. The Memorial Service will be at 10AM at the Prince of Peace Church At Nova and Hand Ave. in Ormond Beach. Celebration of Life will follow at the Aberdeen Community Center.

CANCELLED - Fri May 22nd - 24th Rolling Thunder Run for The Wall: Washington D.C. POW MIA Awareness Demonstration RIde.

Fri May 22nd thru 24th - Rolling Thunder XXXIII, National Ride For Freedom: POW/MIA awareness demonstration ride will take place simultaneously across the country. The Florida event will be held in Leesburg. (See flyer.) If you wish to ride to Leesburg with Rolling Thunder@ Inc. FL Chapter 8, we will be leaving from Port Orange. More info to come. Go to side bar #23 (to the right) for event information.

911 Memorial Ride

Thurs Sept. 17, 18, 19, The Ride Home: This year the Museum of Aviation will be hosting the National POW/MIA Recognition Day event services, ceremonies and banquets. Fore more information, lodging etc. go to theridehome.com

Sat Apr. 4th - Freedom Fest: At the new Freedom Farm. A non-profit community farm located in Buchanan, Virginia. They offer aid to veterans with PTSD, Substance Abuse, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) thru therapeutic activity of interacting with our equines, farming, and peer-to-peer support. The end goal is to personally empower veterans and help them heal through the realization of their own efforts and contributions. All are welcome to attend and support.
